Policy Brief on SADC RISDP 2020 -2030

This policy brief which explores regional policies and strategies in agriculture sector development and how it could benefit smallholder farmers in the Region. The Policy brief further provided recommendations to the SADC member states that will positively impact smallholder farmers for agriculture transformation in the region if implemented, these include;

  1. Establish public social accountability and transparency culture, non-state actors, including smallholder farmers, civil society organisations, media and the private sector must be included in planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  2. Ensure that national extension policies emphasise digital technology for smallholder farmers in agriculture and market information.
  3. Implement the activities planned for enhancing people’s adaptation to climate \change through upscaling smallholder farmers’ skills on climate change proof technologies at a country level. Read more;
