EU supports small scale farmers to strengthen their policy positions in EAC

The Eastern and Southern Africa Small Scale Farmer Forum (ESAFF), The Networks of Small Scale framer Groups in Tanzania(MVIWATA) and Professionals for farir Development of France (GRET) are honoured to invite you to the official launching ceremony of the EU funded project titled Involving small scale farmers in policy dialogue and monitoring for improved food security in the East African Region. The projectdubbed “INVOLVE”, covers five 5 countries in East Africa: Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. The launching is expected to be officiated by the minister for East African Community in Tanzania, Honourable Samuel Sitta (MP) at Blue Pearl Hotel, Ubungo – Dar es Salaam on 12/03/2013. The event will be attended by different stakeholders as well as farmer leaders from East African countries as well as other southern African countries where ESAFF works: Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, Lesotho, Seychelles, Mozambique and Madagascar. ESAFF, MVIWATA and GRET are implementing an East African project on enhancing small scale farmers’ participation in governance for food security. The project totalling 1.8 Million Euro for 42 month is 80% funded by the European Union (EU). The other funders are Bread for the World and Oxfam Novib. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to inclusive formulation and implementation of demand driven-policies for improved food security within the East African Community countries through increased engagement of small scale farmers and scaling up of successful food security local initiatives.
