ESAFF Regional Workshop on Agriculture Policy Advocacy, Communications & Public Expenditure Tracking, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

 ESAFF will hold a five day regional workshop on Agriculture Policy Advocacy, Communication and Public Expenditure Tracking (PETS) for members in EAC. The event, to be held from 29th September to 3rd October 2014 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, will draw a total of 35 participants from 5 countries in EAC countries; small scale farmers and the national secretariat technical staff. Other farmer leaders from ESAFF member countries (in DRC, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi,  Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, will be represented

The training workshop will feature key note presentations on Agriculture Policy Advocacy, Communications and Public Expenditure Tracking techniques. The EAC officials are expected to give presentations on the ongoing policy processes and opportunities for small scale farmers to participate and influence these processes. A report on Agriculture Budget Trends for EAC countries will be shared as well as a report on Food Security Policies and Small Scale farmers’ participation in EAC. It is out of this workshop that information and processes to update the current advocacy and communication strategies will be generated and a road map for implementing advocacy plans at national and local levels will be developed
