{"id":904,"date":"2017-03-14T09:17:17","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T09:17:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.esaff.org\/?p=904"},"modified":"2017-03-14T09:17:17","modified_gmt":"2017-03-14T09:17:17","slug":"the-2015-sadc-peoples-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esaff.org\/index-php\/the-2015-sadc-peoples-summit\/","title":{"rendered":"The 2015 SADC Peoples Summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>15 &#8211; 16\/08\/2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The 2015 SADC Peoples Summit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0As the Heads of State will be meeting in Botswana for the 2015 Heads of State and Government Summit, the ordinary peoples of Southern Africa will also converge at the Big Five in Gaborone, Botswana from 15th \u2013 16th August, 2015, under the auspices of the Southern Africa Peoples Solidarity Network (SAPSN).<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">THEME<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">This year\u2019s Summit is expected to bring together participants from community\u2013based groups, Social Movements and Civil Society Organizations from all corners of the region, under the theme \u201cReclaiming SADC for People\u2019s Development: SADC Resources for SADC People\u2026\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div>AGENDA<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tentatively, the following are under consideration as broad thematic issues on the agenda for 2015 SAPSN People\u2019s Summit, subject to maximum support and stakeholder interest:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. Tax Justice and the fight against Illicit Financial Flows;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. Labor Rights, Decent Jobs and Employment; 3. Economic Empowerment and Development Freedoms;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">4. Human Security (Violence, Peace Building and Human trafficking);<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">5. Financing for Post 2015 Sustainable Development Goals agenda (Health, Education and Agriculture);<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">6. Trade: Cross border traders (Harassment, Simplified trade regime, Double tax);<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">7. The threat of Unsustainable Debt in SADC Countries<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">8. Governance, Democracy and Human Rights (Elections, Civic participation and Development)<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">9. Youths; Employment and Empowerment as the hope for SADC.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">10. Climate change<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Peoples\u2019 Summit is a people\u2019s platform to share experiences, map out strategies and build solidarity around common challenges and common solutions that should help shape our future and our destiny.
